Description

LIFE-BECKON shared the view that public authorities and local action groups play a key role in supporting the development of energy communities and that they should be supported in these tasks and efforts.

The project:

• Developed a comprehensive technical assistance guide with practical solutions for overcoming barriers related to energy communities
• Built administrative capacity through a “train-the-trainer” approach and by conducting training sessions across the EU
• Defined a portfolio of missing integrated services for energy communities, including the grouping of small communities and the management of public engagement
• Created a user-friendly one-stop-shop platform serving as a virtual support office for energy communities
• Provided regulatory feedback, guidance, and support to national and local officials.
• Demonstrated the benefits and impacts of implementing comprehensive support mechanisms.
• Disseminated information about successful initiatives.

As a subcontractor to SOFENA, ABEA assisted in the development of materials and the dissemination of information in Bulgaria.
